Sound of Music Auditions
Auditions for Ovation!'s 2010 holiday production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC will be September 18th and 19th, 2010, from 10am-5pm at the Bainbridge Commons (402 Brien Drive on Bainbridge Island). Callbacks will be Tuesday, September 21th, 2010, also at the Bainbridge Commons. All parts are open. The production will be directed by Ovation!'s Artistic Director, Ron Milton with Musical Direction by Todd Hulet , choreography by Babette Gazarian-Cherne and Costume Design by Shannin Strom-Henry, assisted by Victoria Kight. Performance dates are December 3-19, 2010 - performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 PM and Sundays at 3:00 PM. Please do not schedule an audition if you are not available for all of the performance dates. To audition, prepare a song from musical theatre and bring piano sheet music in your key for the accompanist. No acapella, pop, rock, karaoke or folk songs. A monologue is not required. If you are called back, you may be asked to cold read from the script. A note to youth auditioners - you must be at least 8 years old at the time of audition.
Please note, there are lots of great parts in this show. The musical The Sound of Music is different from the movie. In the musical, for example, the Baroness and Max have songs while in the movie they do not. The Reverend Mother also has more songs in the musical than she does in the movie.
The show will be directed by Ron Milton with Costume Design by Shannin Strom-Henry, assisted by Victoria Kight. Babette Gazarian-Cherne will serve as Choreographer. Ovation!'s production of The Sound of Music is through special arrangements with Rodgers & Hammerstein Theatricals. To schedule an audition, email info@ovationmtb.com or click here.. Please note that Ovation! is an all volunteer organization and we will not be applying for any equity waivers. The Sound of Music list of characters:
