Who We Are

Ovation! Performing Arts Northwest is celebrating nearly 20 years of producing professional quality shows in a community theater setting. We were originally founded in 2003 by Ron and Marijane Milton as Ovation! Musical Theatre Bainbridge. Later, we changed our name to Ovation! Performing Arts Northwest in order to reflect our commitment to the wider local community. Our organization has two branches – the mainstage production branch and the performing arts education branch, the Ovation! Performing Arts Academy (OPAA). We are a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

The hallmark of our mainstage productions has always been finding ways to include strong youth ensembles in our shows. Our aim is to produce at least two fully-staged musicals, operas, or operettas, usually with a live orchestra, each year, plus a cabaret-style fundraising gala that showcases Ovation!’s top youth and adult performers. Our first mainstage show was “The Pirates of Penzance” in 2004, and we’ve gone on to stage many award-winning productions since then, from “Oklahoma!” and “Evita” to “Sweeney Todd” and the regional community theatre premiere of “Les Miserables”.

We also produce performances through OPAA, which includes Crescendo!, our popular adult singing ensemble; theater arts classes for youth performers; and summer Glee camps for performers of almost any age.

Ovation!’s mission is to create and present quality theatrical and arts education experiences by and for our community, which reinforce our shared commitment to artistic excellence. We achieve this by engaging talented members of our community as a united force, working together to reach our goals. We are currently a volunteer-only organization.

Ovation! has built a legacy of presenting daring and critically acclaimed productions. In 2014 we were named Theatre of the Year by the Kitsap Sun.
